Balsamic Glazed Salmon

January seems to be a month when we are looking for delicious, healthy recipes to balance our indulgent eating throughout the holidays. This recipe is healthy AND tastes great. Balsamic Glazed Salmon is easy to prepare and comes together in 30 minutes. Each six-ounce piece of salmon is about 335 calories, yet satisfying and so very flavorful.

Balsamic Glazed Salmon

The glaze is the star of this dish! It is a combination of balsamic vinegar, honey, garlic, Dijon mustard, and dried oregano. It packs a punch of flavor when used in this easy salmon recipe. Simple and low in calories, but so delicious!

A 6-ounce piece of salmon contains about 40 grams of protein. That makes this meal a healthy choice and one that loaded with nutritional value. Salmon is also rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, which are healthy fats that contribute to brain, heart and bone health. Salmon can be used in many recipes and is a flavorful part of a healthy diet.

Balsamic Glazed Salmon Recipe

What’s needed?

  • 4 6-ounce pieces of Atlantic Salmon (335 calories per piece)
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/3 cup white wine (or chicken stock)
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon Mustard
  • dried oregano (or Italian Seasoning)

How to make Balsamic Glazed Salmon?

  • Cover a baking sheet with foil. Spray the foil with cooking spray. Place the salmon fillets on the baking sheet skin side down. Sprinkle each piece of fish with salt and pepper.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a small saucepan or skillet and heat over medium heat. Add garlic, balsamic vinegar, white wine, and mustard. Stir until ingredients are combined well and heated through.
  • Spoon glaze over each piece of salmon. Add a pinch of dried oregano or Italian Seasoning. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 12 to 14 minutes, until fish is flaky and pink. The fish will separate easily from the skin when removed from the baking sheet.
  • Serve the salmon with simple sides, such as herbed rice and steamed broccoli. Use the rest of the glaze to top the fish or pour it over the rice for added flavor. You can also add some chopped green onions, if desired.
