Caramel Pecan Bars

When I’m looking for something sweet, I can never go wrong with caramel. My favorite candy when I was growing up was Caramel Cremes. Soft caramel wrapped around a creamy white center, makes my mouth water just thinking about it. So, this recipe hits all the right notes, sweet, soft, and a bit salty from the pecans.
Caramel Pecan Bars Recipe
What’s needed?
- 1 cup butter, 2 sticks
- 2 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 cups pecans, chopped
- Powdered sugar for garnish
How to make Caramel Pecan Bars?
- Begin by making the caramel. Add the butter and brown sugar to a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved. Remove the saucepan from the stove.
- In a large bowl, mix the eggs, vanilla, and butter mixture until combined.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the flour and the baking powder. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients.
- Stir in the pecans.
- Spread the mixture in a 13×9 inch baking pan that has been greased with cooking spray.
- Bake the pecan bars at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool the bars slightly in the pan before cutting into squares.
Cut the pecan bars into squares and serve them warm with vanilla ice cream or powdered sugar sprinkled over the top. This recipe makes 24 bars. This is about the sweetest dessert I’ve ever had, delicious!
