Peach Coca Cola BBQ Sauce
I recently picked up a box of delicious peaches from The Peach Truck and I’m having fun making some new recipes. I made Peach Coca Cola BBQ Sauce yesterday and served it over grilled pork chops. It was the best— so very sweet and tangy. You need to give this one a try!
I have learned over the years that making staples like barbecue sauce, mayonnaise and ketchup is not as intimidating as it may sound. And it allows you to control the ingredients and their amounts, making it easy to cut calories and sodium, if desired. It’s fun to try your hand at making something you never imagined you could.
Most homemade condiments are simple to make and taste so much better. Coca-cola adds some richness and sweetness to this recipe. You can use root beer or any dark cola. Then serve this Peach BBQ Sauce on pork, chicken, fish or burgers. It just might become a family favorite.
Peach Coca Cola BBQ Sauce Recipe
What’s needed?
- 4 ripe peaches, peeled and cut into chunks
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 2 medium sweet onions, diced
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2/3 cup Coca-Cola (or Root Beer)
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- Pork Loin Chops, seasoned and grilled
How to make BBQ Sauce?
- Puree the peaches in a blender or food processor until smooth, set aside.
- Add the oil, onions and garlic to a large saucepan. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 10 minutes.
- Add the peach puree and the remaining ingredients to the onions and garlic and simmer uncovered on low for 45 minutes. You will need to stir the mixture occasionally as it thickens. Remove the pan from the heat, it will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Season your pork chops with salt, pepper, and paprika and grill them for 6-7 minutes on each side. Serve the chops with the Peach BBQ Sauce and some summer side dishes. So tasty!
Put the remaining sauce in a jar and label it with name and the date. It will keep in the refrigerator for up to a month. The Peach BBQ Sauce also tastes great on burgers, roasted chicken wings, meatloaf and even as a dipping sauce for French fries. Enjoy!
