My inspiration for this recipe came from PF Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps. Crunchy, tangy, and delicious, they are a favorite of ours when visiting the restaurant. So why not make them at home? This recipe can be made all in ONE pan in less than 20 minutes. You are going to love this recipe for Chicken Lettuce Wraps!

Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Wrapping this savory chicken filling in crunchy lettuce leaves is a fresh, low-carb way to eat this dish. Add a splash of soy sauce or some crispy chow mein noodles before serving to make them even more appetizing.

Chicken Lettuce Wraps

What’s needed?

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/3 cup hoisin sauce
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 8 ounces water chestnuts, drained and chopped
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions (optional)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 leaves iceberg lettuce, rinsed
  • 8 ounces Asian Slaw or stir fry veggies

How to make Chicken Lettuce Wraps?

  • Add the ground chicken to a wok (or large skillet) and cook over medium high heat for about 4 or 5 minutes. Add a tablespoon of canola oil if the meat is lean and becomes dry while cooking. Cook until browned, then add the garlic, ginger and onion. Cook another 3 minutes until the onion is soft.
  • Add the Hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar and the chopped water chestnuts and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle the green onions over the mixture, if desired.

Serve the chicken mixture on a platter with the lettuce leaves and some crunchy Asian Slaw, including shredded Napa cabbage, shredded carrots, thinly sliced red peppers and shredded purple cabbage.

Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Scoop a few tablespoons of the chicken mixture into a lettuce leaf and top with the raw crunchy veggies and a splash of Sriracha or soy sauce, if desired. Some crispy chow mein noodles can also be added to give some extra CRUNCH!
