Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Lorraine Lorusso, a woman who worked at a gourmet store in Chicago, is credited with creating the first chocolate covered strawberries in the 1960’s. And since chocolate and strawberries are both considered an aphrodisiac, this cominiation quickly became a popular gift on Valentine’s Day around the world.
They not only taste decadent, but they are beautiful as well. And there’s no need to buy them or spend a small fortune for these delicious treats. They are easy to make and your Valentine will appreciate the effort you put into making them yourself.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries Recipe
What’s needed?
- 20 fresh strawberries
- 16 ounces CandiQuik candy coating (or semi sweet chocolate chips)
- 1/4 cup crushed candy pieces
- 1/4 cup chocolate sprinkles
- 1/4 cup red or white sprinkles
How to make Chocolate Covered Strawberries?
- Wash the strawberries and lay them on a towel. Make sure they are completely dry before dipping. Leave the green tops on the berries.
- Pour sprinkles and candy pieces into separate bowls.
- Put 16 ounces of CandiQuik in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stir gently. Microwave for another 30 seconds and stir again, chocolate coating should be soft and smooth. See package instructions.
- Holding the berry by the leaves, dip and roll until covered with chocolate. Allow excess to drip off. Add sprinkles while the chocolate is soft. Place the berries on a piece of parchment paper until chocolate is hardened.
Serve the strawberries on a pretty plate or wrap them up in a beautiful box and deliver them to someone special. These beautiful strawberries make a wonderful Valentine’s Day treat!
