Easy Apple Dumplings
Crisp, tart and sweet, you can easily find a variety of beautiful apples this time of the year. That makes it the best time to bake some Easy Apple Dumplings. The lemon-lime soda works with the light brown sugar to make a rich, syrupy glaze for the dumplings while they bake. Such a simply ingredient, but it really packs a flavorful PUNCH!
Easy Apple Dumplings Recipe
What’s needed?
- 1 tube of Pillsbury Grands Biscuits (5 biscuits)
- 1 yellow delicious (or Granny Smith) apple, cored and cut into 10 thin slices
- 5 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 can lemon-lime carbonated soda
How to make Easy Apple Dumplings?
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Peel the apple and cut it into 10 thin slices. Put the apple slices in a bowl and toss them with 1 tablespoon of light brown sugar. Set the bowl aside. Separate the biscuits and roll each one into a flat circle.
- Put 2 apple slices in the center of the dough and pinch the edges together. Place all 5 dumplings in a 8×8-inch baking pan.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. When melted, remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the remaining brown sugar until blended. Spoon the sugar mixture over the dumplings.
- Pour the 1/2 can of soda in the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle the cinnamon on top of the apple dumplings.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes until the dumplings are browned and cooked through. Remove the pan from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes and the sauce will thicken slightly.
