Three types of beans, including pinto, butter beans and black beans, are combined with a rich sauce to create this delicious recipe. Hearty Baked Beans Recipe

What’s needed?

  • 15 ounces pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 15 ounces butter beans, rinsed and drained
  • 15 ounces black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 3 slices thick cut bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 10 ounces condensed tomato soup
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup mild salsa
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste

How to make Hearty Baked Beans?

  • Cook the ground beef and onion until browned, drain the fat.
  • Meanwhile, drain and rinse all three cans of beans and place them in a 4-5 quart slow cooker. Beans are inexpensive and packed with protein.

  • Add the ground beef and onions and stir. Add the remaining ingredients and stir.

  • Cover and heat on high for 2 hours, reduce heat to low and cook for 1 hour.
