Orange Spiced Tea
My mother used to make this warm and comforting Orange Spiced Tea at the first sign of a cold when I was growing up. I made a batch recently to soothe my scratchy throat. It warms me from head to toe and tastes so good. This tea is often called Friendship Tea because the recipe makes enough to share. Such a great memory from my childhood.
I love the way that some foods (and drinks) can evoke such strong memories of a person or a place from our past. This is one of those drinks that does just that. It reminds me of chilly winter days with my mother in the kitchen making hot tea and the smell of cinnamon wafting through the house. It was comforting and soothing–and still is today.
Orange Spiced Tea
What’s needed?
- 2 cups of Tang (orange flavored drink mix)
- 1 cup of Lipton Instant Tea
- 1 small envelope of dry lemonade mix
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 cups granulated sugar
How to make Orange Spiced Tea?
- In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients together and stir to combine.
- Store in mason jars and be sure to share some with a friend! Remember to attach a copy of the recipe, as your friend will surely ask you for the recipe if you don’t.
- Use 3 teaspoons of tea mix stirred into one cup of boiling water to make one cup of tea. It smells amazing and tastes even better.
Store the tea mixture in mason jars. I tie a pretty ribbon around the jars that are given to friends each fall. This is a great way to thank someone or welcome a new neighbor to the area. You’re sure to get a smile in return!
