Cook Time: 45 minutesmins
Total Time: 1 hourhr
Ingredients
3poundschicken wings, washed and dried, cut in half, wing tips removed
1tablespoonbaking powder
1teaspoongarlic salt
1teaspoonblack pepper
1teaspoonsmoked paprika
1/3cupFrank's Hot Sauce, (extra sauce for brushing on after baking)
carrot and celery sticks for serving, optional
blue cheese dressing for dipping, optional
Instructions
Prepare the chicken wings by carefully cutting them at the joint with a sharp knife and removing the wing tips. Rinse them and pat them dry with a paper towel.
Combine garlic salt, black pepper, smoked paprika and baking powder in a gallon-size plastic bag, along with a 1/3 cup of Frank's Hot Sauce. Add the wings to the bag and coat them thoroughly with the spice mixture.
Place the wings in a single layer on a wire rack over a baking sheet. This allows air to circulate around the wings while baking in the oven and will produce a crispy exterior, while making them juicy and delicious.
Place the baking sheet on the middle rack in your oven. Bake the wings at 400 degrees for 40-45 minutes. The length of time depends on the size of your wings, larger wings could take 50-55 minutes until they are done. Using a pair of tongs, turn the wings halfway through baking time. Test your wings with a meat thermometer, it should read 165 degrees when wings are done.
Remove the wings from the oven and brush them with your favorite barbecue sauce or some additional hot sauce, if desired. Serve them on a platter while warm and crispy with some fresh vegetables and Blue Cheese or Ranch dressing for dipping.
